Submission: Modernising Conservation Land Management proposals

ELI’s submission to the Department of Conservation on the Modernising Conservation Land Management proposals. The consultation seeks public input as to various proposals to the conservation planning system, from streamlining administrative processes to enabling more flexibility for land exchanges and disposals. In ELI’s view, the proposals as framed, deliver on economic and recreational outcomes but crucially fail to include a conservation focus. This is so despite the clear protective conservation purpose of overarching legislation.
